This file can be used to create a NoteSmith detailed error log. Many errors are trapped and converted to simple text displayed on screen that is helpful to the user. Messages can be converted to a longer format useful to a support technician using these directions.

1. Start MyComputer or Computer, then work your way to the current NoteSmith folder which is inside C:\Users\Public\Princeton.

2. Right mouse click DebugErrorOff.txt and rename it to DebugErrorOn.txt. (Some computers are set up to hide the .txt so leave it if it is visible and do not add it if it is not visible.)

3. Use NoteSmith and try to duplicate the earlier error you received. If successful, either write down the message, or open the file Errors.txt in your Data folder, or go to Help, Technical Support, Data where the text will appear.

4. Create a new email and either type or use copy/paste into the email body. Send it to Support@NoteSmith.com along with your contact information. Alternately, double click the file Errors.txt which opens it with Windows Notepad, print, and fax to 888-227-2486.

You can keep the new DebugErrorOn.txt file as long as you need until you can reproduce the error. Delete it when you have no more need for it so the simpler error messages appear when necessary.
